Warner Bros. released the first images and trailer of Guy Ritchie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. The film stars Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer as an American CIA Agent and Russian KGB Agent respectively who are forced to team up to fight against a criminal organization. Based off a 1960’s TV show of the same name, Ritchie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. looks very similar to a Bond movie. Though if you have watched Ritche’s Sherlock Holmes films you will see a clear similarity. Which isn’t exactly a bad thing.
Cavill looks great in this film, though Tom Cruise was originally cast, Cavill’s debonair look works. Armie Hammer plays the Russian quite well, and even though he didn’t say much in the trailer, I liked what I saw. This film also has a great supporting cast that includes, Jared Harris, Alicia Vikander, and Hugh Grant.
Perri Nemiroff of Collider.com had a chance to speak with Hugh Grant and asked him what was it about the film that would hit home with moviegoers who aren’t exactly familiar with the tv series of the same name. Grant went on to reply “I think it’s quite cool and stylish.” It’s set in the 60’s, and so the costumes, the sets, the hairdoos and the sunglasses just kind of rock. They’re just cool. And visually it should be amazing. It’s set in Italy, Greece and London, and it’s like, you know, sort of a throwback to those 60’s thrillers.”
With the huge success of shows like Mad Men, and films like James Bond, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is sure to send audiences into the seats of theaters. The film is set to release August 14, 2015.
