Iris secretly video records her wedding vows on Barry’s phone. You know, in case she gets killed as predicted. He’ll have that memory. And it’s a good thing she does, because at the end of the episode, Savitar kills Iris. I guess the future can’t be changed, or can it? This is part one of a two part episode, so who knows what will happen next week. And Iris isn’t the only character in jeopardy. Cisco is about to have a showdown with Killer Frost. And when Barry time tripped into the future last time, we saw that Killer Frost won that fight, freezing and then shattering Cisco’s hands. And thus taking away his ability to vibe. So there’s a lot on the line next week; Iris’ life, Cisco’s hands, and Caitlin’s soul.
HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED: Tracy Brand finished the speed Canon, but they need a power source to spark it up. The only thing powerful enough is stored in A.R.G.U.S.. But Lyla won’t give it to Barry because it’s ultra-dangerous, and Barry’s track record is sketchy at best. So Barry decides to steal the power source from A.R.G.U.S., which is easier said than done. So he breaks the rule he swore he’d never break again, and he goes back in time to recruit Captain Cold, an accomplished thief. The reason he has to go back in time is because, in the present, Captain Cold is dead. He sacrificed himself to save the Legends on their show last year. And he needs the Captain’s help because A.R.G.U.S. HQ has anti meta-human technology that nullifies super powers. So once inside A.R.G.U.S. Barry won’t have his speed.
Meanwhile, Kid Flash takes Joe and Iris to Earth-2, to hide out with Harry. Just in case Barry can’t get the power source they need to power their speed weapon, and stop Savitar. But Savitar, disguised as Barry shows up at Star Labs and tricks H.R. into telling him where Iris is. Then Savitar speeds over to Earth-2, kidnaps Iris, breaking Kid Flash’s leg in the process. I guess crossing over from one Earth to another is as easy is crossing the street these days for a speedster. I thought they needed Cisco’s vibe power to open a portal, but I guess they figured a way around that.
Barry and Captain Cold break into A.R.G.U.S. but when they find the power source, they discover that it’s being guarded by King Shark. Which doesn’t make a lot of sense, because why would King Shark work as an A.R.G.U.S. watchdog? And the power source is pretty much just sitting there. So aren’t they afraid that King Shark might destroy it? But hey, maybe Lyla worked a deal with King Shark in exchange for a case of smoked salmon. Anyway, Barry and Cold steal the power source, but Cold gets locked in with King Shark. And we don’t see Barry rescue him. So does Barry just bail on Captain Cold, or did he find a way to free him? We may or may not find out next week.
Now that the speed canon has been powered up, Team Flash leaves to confront Savitar and save Iris. But Cisco gets a vibe from Killer Frost and goes off to save Caitlin, while Barry and the rest of the gang go off to save Iris. But Caitlin doesn’t want to be saved. So Vibe and Killer Frost battle, and it doesn’t look that good for Cisco. Then, at the appointed hour, Savitar shows up with Iris. Barry tries to trap him in the speed force, using the speed canon, but it doesn’t work. Then Savitar impales Iris and she dies in Barry’s arms… STAY TUNED…
LAST WORDS: The romance between H.R. and Tracy Brand feels rushed. And I hope she doesn’t become a series regular. She’s a bit too goofy… I hope Iris doesn’t die, because that would make the show too dark. That’s an Arrow thing… And I hope Kid Flash doesn’t lose his speed. If Savitar gets undone, it may save Iris but sacrifice Kid Flash. And lastly, I hope we get Caitlin back but as a new kick-ass combo of our Caitlin and Killer Frost.
