Twilight Time presents another stellar Blu-ray for this Woody Allen classic. Perhaps the best adaptation of a book ever, Allen made comedy vignettes about the information in the nonfiction book Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex * But Were Afraid To Ask. This collection of short vignettes bears many different looks in HD.

The Medieval kingdom gives us a lush courtyard while actors prance around in humorously cheap costumes. The sheep segment is a then-modern day doctor’s office. The public sex one goes out on the town. The cross dressing one, while using outdated terminology, is colorful in its costumes. The black and white game show still looks like an old VHF signal, blurry and flickering. The giant tit has some HD detail that’s pretty terrifying. The detail in the sperm finale is magnificent and it’s all bookended with bunnies’ twitching noses and pink ears.

Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex * But Were Afraid To Ask is one of Allen’s “early funny ones.” It’s a classic example of how he’d make the most immature sex jokes in a sophisticated indie movie. Visually it might not get the regard of Manhattan or Stardust Memories but this Blu-ray shows there was some awesome production design bringing to life Allen’s comic romp.
