DIRK GENTLY’S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY: Rest In Peace

After only two quirky years, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency was closed down before it could officially open. And that’s a damn shame.  The series, based on the books of Douglas Adams, was a disjointed delight.  It was like a box of chocolates, you never knew from week to week what you were going to get.   And that made it absolutely true to Douglas Adams through and through.  In the last episode of the series, which aired a few short weeks ago, Dirk, Farah, and Todd finally hung their agency shingle and opened their doors. So shame on you BBC America for canceling the show and slamming the newly opened door right in their faces.  And while I realize that the show didn’t deliver the numbers the BBC wanted, at some point, quality should prevail over ratings quantity.  Think about it TV, maybe that’s why so many people have quit you. “Everything’s connected.”
