THE CW: Kid Flash runs out of time

No, Wally West is not dead!  But he is absent from the present time line.  Keiynan Lonsdale’s  Kid Flash/Wally West is joining DC Legends Of Tomorrow.  So he’ll be part of the time traveling shenanigans aboard The Waverider.  Which at least explains why he doesn’t super speed back to help out Team Flash, since they are down one speedster now that Barry’s in prison.  Legends also lost Firestorm, after the death of Professor Stein and the departure of Jefferson Jax, so Kid Flash is filling that void.  Hopefully giving him more screen time than he had on The Flash.   I think it’s a good fit.  And maybe in the not to far off future, Kid Flash will run by the new live-action Titan’s show as well.  Since Kid Flash was originally one of the founders of the Teen Titans, along with Wonder Girl, Aqualad, Speedy, and Robin…

  • Said Executive Producer Phil Klemmer, regarding Wally joining Legends…

– We loved working with Keiynan in our series premiere — the episode in which we learned that in between seasons 2 and 3 he had been fighting crime in Central City with Nick Zano’s Nate Heywood. So when his character stepped away from Flash to go on walkabout, after being dumped and feeling somewhat estranged from his family/team, we knew that Wally West would fit in perfectly on Legends. After all, our show is about a collection of unlikely heroes who all began their journeys questioning who they are and where they belong — only to find those answers while traveling through time and having wacky adventures. So now Wally West is not only back in the company of old friends from the Arrow-verse, he’s fighting alongside a former enemy and career arsonist Mick Rory/Dom Purcell. By the end of this season Wally will learn that the Legends have a different definition of what it means to be a hero.-

I just hope that we get to see Joe West, Wally’s father, in an episode or two.  I really like their father/son dynamic.  And I’m also hoping for a new sleeker suit.  The leather one he has now looks bulky and bunches up on him.  Maybe Gideon can hit the re-set button on Cisco’s original design.
