DC STUDIOS: HOLY HERA! PATTI JENKINS’ WONDER WOMAN 3 CANCELLED!!!
Don’t act all surprised! Did you see WONDER WOMAN 1984?! The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, revealing that Jenkins recently submitted a treatment she co-wrote with Geoff Johns for the sequel but was told by DC Studios that the project didn’t fit in with the still-being-determined plans for the franchise. YIKES!!! That’s not to say there couldn’t be a pivot but “no decision has been made about next steps” just yet.
So what does this mean? Is Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman history? I don’t think so. But WW1984 was written/directed by Jenkins, and they did just say ‘NO’ to Jenkins’ idea for a third film, so my guess is that she’s out. OR, that she’s hired to direct a third film and NOT write it. (She didn’t write the First Wonder Woman Film. And just for the record, I thought WW1984 was a complete mess.)
So here’s the skinny! DC Studio Bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran, are expected to meet with their boss David Zaslav, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, next week to lay out their full 10 year plan. And If he approves it, things will move very quickly regarding new DC films, with Wonder Woman, Superman, etc. But until then, not all is lost. Just, for now, a proposed idea for Wonder Woman 3 bites the dust.
