This is one date we won’t be late for. The long-awaited sequel to 2010′s live-action Alice in Wonderland has a title and full cast!
The new film, Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass, stars Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway as the Mad Hatter, Alice Kingsley, the Red Queen, and the White Queen respectively (woot!). Walt Disney Studios has announced that James Bobin (Muppets Most Wanted director and charming Brit), has signed on to direct the film from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Danny Elfman (The Nightmare Before Christmas) is back to compose, multiple Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood will be designing what we can only imagine will be epic costumes, and Tim Burton will executive produce.
Joining the cast for the sequel are Sacha Baron Cohen as “Time,” Rhys Ifans will play Zanik Hightopp, the Mad Hatter’s father (best name ever?), and Ed Speleers joins the cast as James Harcourt.
Also returning are other fan favorites including Matt Lucas, Michael Sheen, Alan Rickman (the best), Timothy Spall, Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, and Paul Whitehouse. The film comes to theaters May 27, 2016. We’re already going down a rabbit hole of anticipation.
