Disney movies patterned after theme park rides has been sort of a hit and miss. While Pirates of the Caribbean went on to become a very successful franchise, Eddie Murphy’s Haunted Mansion, Mission to Mars, and Tower of Terror (yes, there was a TV movie based on the California Adventure ride…look it up!) didn’t get the same…jena se quoi (that’s French for those that don’t know) that Johnny Depp magically put into the Pirates franchise.
But after seeing the teaser for the new movie named after the ever-popular (at least to me) area called Tomorrowland. It seems like they’re pulling all the stops as they’ve got Brad Bird (Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) at the helm with big guns George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, and Britt Robertson. I’m certainly excited about this one!
