According to a report from Variety, actor Oscar Isaac (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”) has closed a deal to portray the titular villain in Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Apocalypse”. Other candidates in the running for the role of Apocalypse were actors Idris Elba (“Thor: The Dark World”, “Pacific Rim”) and Pedro Pascal (“Game of Thrones”). Bryan Singer described the upcoming X-Men film to “have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle.” The most recent “X-Men: Days of Future Past” has earned an impressive $745 million worldwide at the box office. 20th Century Fox will has set “X-Men: Apocalypse” for a May 27th, 2016 release date.
