Netflix Reportedly Making LEGEND OF ZELDA TV Series
There are many fans of Zelda, young and old who are going to really like this news I’m about to share. Netflix has decided to make a live action tv series based off of Nintendo’s hit selling game Zelda. Being referred to as “Game of Thrones” for a family audience. This is a huge step for Nintendo based on its past history with Hollywood.
Of course it is entirely possible that this project goes absolutely no where. It has not been officially announce which means that Nintendo and Netflix don’t want to talk about it either. A Netflix spokesperson said the company does comment on rumors or speculation. While Nintendo was not available for comment.
The Legend of Zelda is one of the best-known, most successful game franchises of all time. It came out in the US in 1987 and has enjoyed 29 releases that spanned 20 years. If you will recall, actor Robin Williams even named his daughter Zelda after the games’s princess.
Nintendo does games the way games should be done. They are at times flawless, addicting, and down right gorgeous. Yet it seems when they out step their bounds is when things seem to go awry. In 1993 the live-action Super Mario Bros. film bombed at the box office and widely looked down up by critics.
A Zelda series gives Netflix another opportunity to build its reputation for original television programming. And with Orange is the New Black, and House of Lies, I think they are doing a pretty good job. I’m all for a TV version of Zelda, as long as they stay true to the core of Zelda. Keep Link as Nintendo would have him, and even maybe bring in Navi! I mean, she wold be important right?
Only time will tell if this will come true. a Zelda show would be great, especially if Nintendo can base game was released with it. Either as a tie in or a complete stand alone. The world needs a Zelda take over. Thank you Netflix for this chance.
