It’s not uncommon that The Empire’s vehicle of choice, the Tie Fighter, gets an updated look from Star Wars movie to movie.  Not really getting rid of the previous style seen in the previous movie but adding a ‘new’ Tie Fighter to the already massive Imperial armies.  Plus it sells toys and merchandise is a big part of Star Wars.
