This morning I awoke to the news that Henry Cavill was no longer Superman. And my instant reaction was anger, disappointment, and sadness. In fact, I sent this text message to a friend; “Warner Executives have their heads so far up their butts they can see their own tonsils.” But then, Cavill’s manager posted this via Twitter: “Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe.” And I followed instructions and calmed down. But I’m still not sure what it all means.
Is Cavill still Superman? I hope so! But nobody’s really saying much. So I think there’s more to the story than we’re being told. Warner Bros released this statement: “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.” And while that sounds hopeful, it’s not a definitive; “Yes, he’s still Superman.” So, while I still have hope. At this point I’m prepared for anything!
Here’s a description of the cryptic video-responce Henry Cavill posted on Instagram: Cavill, wearing a ‘Krypton Lifting Team’ T-shirt, silently showes off a Superman figurine, set to a dog barking the melody of “The Blue Danube” by Johann Strauss II. – The Caption: “Today was exciting #Superman.”
Yeah Henry, that clears everything up. NOT!
