NO SPOILERS HERE: I had a good time with this film. Which is a rare thing to say about sequels this summer.
Toy Story 4 is fun and familiar, and it has a few great messages, and a lot of heart. But a warning for the wee ones; it does have a dark and creepy element. My only big complaint is that you don’t see the core toys all that much. This is definitely a Woody adventure, with a dash of Buzz on the side.
Now, do we need a Toy Story 4? Sure, why not, it’s entertaining enough. And though, like most every movie, it’s got it’s flaws, the characters are so charming, and the story is so well-told, you don’t dwell on them. So go and enjoy. Unless feel-good family fun is not your thing. Then there’s the CHILD’S PLAY re-do, that other talking toy movie that premiered this weekend. Go see that. I hear it’s ‘killer’.
