In a Variety interview, WarnerMedia Studios CEO Ann Sarnoff had this to say about The Suicide Squad; “We won’t be developing David Ayer’s cut.”
And about the positive fan reaction to Zack Snyder’s Justice League… This is what was said. And it sounds like they’re moving on…
“I appreciate that they love Zack’s work and we are very thankful for his many contributions to DC,” said Sarnoff. “We’re just so happy that he could bring his cut of the Justice League to life because that wasn’t in the plan until about a year ago. With that comes the completion of his trilogy. We’re very happy we’ve done this, but we’re very excited about the plans we have for all the multi-dimensional DC characters that are being developed right now.”
So that’s that folks. And to be honest, I’m not crying about this. I was not a fan of Jared Leto’s Joker, which was mostly cut out of the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad. And I wasn’t anxious to see more.
Plus, now that James Gunn’s version of The Suicide Squad is in the can awaiting release, moving forward seems like the total right thing to do at this juncture.
