Now that the Snyder Cut is out, and its good. Everyone is talking about what went wrong with the original. And while it is easy to point at Joss Whedon, you have to realize that Whedon didn’t just swoop in out of nowhere to suck the life out of Zack Snyder’s vision. Like a vampire, he had to be invited in.
Zack Snyder’s big film ‘before’ Justice League, Batman v Superman, was disliked by critics and most fans. Though I did find the 3 hour extended cut enjoyable. So some big-wigs at Warner Bros got a lot nervous. And when they brought in Joss Whedon to finish/fix the film, the wanted it lighter, more like a Marvel film, AND only two hours long. So that’s why we got what we got; The anti-Snyder version.
Now don’t get me wrong, as the non-credited Justice League director, Joss Whedon is the man everyone looks to blame, and with good reason. But just remember that he was hired to do the job he did. And that unnamed WB Execs, who may or may not still be with the company, were pulling strings, and had a big hand in Justice Leagues’ mediocrity as well.
