Deadline brings word that Netflix has decided not to move forward with another season of Jupiter’s Legacy. And to be honest, that doesn’t break my heart. I found it a chore to get through the entire series, and actually fast-forwarded through a couple of episodes. Yeah, the script was marginal at best.
For me, the flash-back/flash-forward storytelling style didn’t do a good job with world-building, or character development. So it was hard to figure out the rules of the world, and I didn’t care about or invest in the characters.
Plus, the costumes just didn’t look good. I don’t know if it was the live-action translation of the very comic-bookish superhero suits 0r the way it was filmed. But something wasn’t working. And the unimpressive make-up, and wigs, they used to age/de-age the actors, didn’t help the look either.
And while the series did end on a cliffhanger, I didn’t really care since I wasn’t invested in any of the characters. So maybe not ‘every’ graphic novel needs a live-action re-do.
