Scream 2 4K UHD Review: What’s Your Favorite 4K Movie?
Paramount released the new Scream sequel this year, and the 1996 original on 4K UHD. There are still three movies in between to catch up on, and the first sequel came to 4K UHD this week just in time for scary movie marathon season.
The Scream 2 4K is a lovely preservation of the much hyped 1997 film. You still see the film grain, especially in the brightly lit college campus scenes. Scenes from the fictional Stab look just as good as Scream 2 itself, unless you see clips playing from inside the movie theater or on a TV news show.
You can really see the texture of the fabric in Ghostface’s robe. Night scenes are crisp and clear, but much of Scream 2 takes place during daylight where the campus colors shine.
The opening music triggers a guitar riff in the rear speakers. The rest of the sound mix is accurate, not overdone, but judicious with jump scares.
