HBO MAX: ’GREEN LANTERN CORP’ SERIES SCRAPPED
HBO MAX: Hey DC fans! Remember that epic ’GREEN LANTERN CORP’ series that was announced 4+ years ago? Sure you do! The space-saga with multiple Lanterns and out of this world visuals. The lead roles were cast, scripts were written. And then NOTHING! Well, word finally dropped that the project is dead as a big green doornail. Instead, they’ve headed back to the drawing board to develop a more earthbound, and cheaper, Jon Stewart as Green Lantern solo-series. And even that isn’t a guarantee.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the HBO Max series in its original form may have been too expensive for notoriously cost-cutting new CEO David Zaslav, as it was to heavily feature outer space settings. Ex-Show-Runner Grahame-Smith completed scripts for eight episodes, which will all now become tax write-offs. And don’t expect to see Finn Wittrock and Jeremy Irvine as Guy Gardner and Alan Scott in the immediate future, if at all. Glass-half-full; at least the Cheaper Green Lantern concept is still in play…for now!
– DC Studios ramps up November 1st. Maybe that will help things along.
