DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH WAITING FOR A SOLO ’NAMOR’ MOVIE

MARVEL STUDIOS: According to producer Nate Moore, Namor the Sub-Mariner can return as a guest star in Marvel films. BUT, Marvel and Disney can’t produce a solo Namor film. Those rights remain with Universal Pictures… It is similar to the arrangement Marvel and Universal have with the HULK and his associated characters. Universal retains the rights for any solo Hulk movie, but Marvel is allowed to use Bruce Banner and his alter ego in a supporting capacity. Character deals like this were made before the creation of Marvel Studios. So, if Marvel wants to make a Namor feature film, they would have to make a deal with Universal, similar to the deal they have with Sony regarding Spider-Man…
