WONDER WOMAN 3: JENKINS REFUSED TO REVISE HER PITCH AND LEFT PROJECT
DC STUDIOS: Everybody lost their minds when it was announced earlier that Patti Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 pitch had been cancelled! I mean, doom and gloom speculation spread like wildfire. But sounds like the script idea was canceled, not the film… According to Deadline, Jenkins’ pitch for the sequel “had character arc problems that rivaled those of Wonder Woman 1984.” The report also notes that Warner Bros. Pictures’ top film executives, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, had issues with Jenkins’ treatment even before DC Studio bosses Gunn and Safran shared their notes.
Jenkins reportedly “fought back and defended her vision that the threequel’s character arcs were solid.” Regardless, she decided to leave the project rather than attempt to reconcile her take on it with the notes from Gunn and Safran. And that’s what is called, true creative differences. So nobody’s been fired just yet. Gal Gaddot could still be Wonder Woman in a new fiilm that has not been written by Jenkins . ( The first film was not written by Jenkins) But we’ll have to wait and see, as DC Studios have yet to make any official announcements about their new film strategy.
So let’s wait for ‘official’ word before we assume everything that we love has been chucked onto the scrapheap. For now, only a continuation of the Wonder Woman 1984 storyline has been dumped. Which I think was the right call. But just for the record, I am not on board with them nuking everything and starting over from scratch. I think that’s a stupid idea.I think that’s a very stupid idea. #HenryCavillSuperman
