THE NEW DC ‘GUNN-VERSE’: NEW SUPERMAN, NEW BATMAN & ROBIN, NO WONDER WOMAN…
DC STUDIOS: Lets address the elephant in the room 1st… The sequels for THE BATMAN, and THE JOKER are safe. They will be branded as DC ELSEWORLDS projects. And ELSEWORLD projects will be separate from the new DC Universe…. So J.J. Abrams’ yet-to-be-greenlit African-American Superman could be under this banner as well. But I personally think that project is dead…
A lot of things were not mentioned in Gunn’s in announcement; Like the fate of the Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Shazam, and Flash film franchises after their 2023 release dates… Of course they could be waiting to see how the films perform at the box office before deciding to move forward with additional films. OR, Future films in these franchises could just be dead in the water, or re-cast. But listen to James Gunn’s take on things…
FEATURE FILM PROJECTS
“SUPERMAN: LEGACY” – Due out in theaters on July 11, 2025, this film will be written by Gunn.
“It’s not an origin story. It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness is old-fashioned.” According to Gunn: “I really love the idea of Superman…He’s a big ol’ galoot. He’s a farm boy from Kansas who is very idealistic. His greatest weakness is that he’ll never kill anybody. He doesn’t want to hurt a living soul. I liked that sort of innate goodness about Superman as his defining characteristic.”
*This does sound right y’all. But after all the crap that went down with Henry Cavill, I still don’t trust James Gunn to get it right. So let’s wait and see…
“THE AUTHORITY” – WildStorm characters will join the DCU as members of The Authority take matters into their own hands to do what they believe is right. And then, there’s a movie about the Authority — a high concept superhero team from a little-known indie superhero setting created as a boundary-pushing reflection and celebration of the Justice League and the Avengers.

‘THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD” – Inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic series. The DCEU will introduce A NEW BATMAN, and Damian Wayne will join him as ROBIN in this new film. Damian is the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, that Bruce never knew he had… Damian was raised by his mother Talia al Ghul and the League of Assassins, and just shows up on Bruce Wayne’s doorstep one day.
“SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW” – Based on Tom King’s comic series, this film is a science-fiction adventure about a darker take Supergirl. So it probably won’t be the same Supergirl that we see in the upcoming flash film.
“SWAMP THING” – A DC Horror Film that will investigate the dark origins of Swamp Thing.

TELEVISION PROJECTS: HBO MAX
“Creature Commandos” – A seven-episode animated show in which Amanda Waller creates a black ops team out of monstrous prisoners.
“Waller” – Starring Viola Davis as Amanda Waller this series will feature characters from “Peacemaker.”
“Booster Gold” – Booster Gold uses basic technology from the future to pretend to be a superhero in present day.
“Lanterns” – A “True Detective”-style show centered on intergalactic cops John Stewart and Hal Jordan as they uncover a dark mystery.
“Paradise Lost” – A “Game of Thrones”-style show set in Themyscira, home of the Amazons and birthplace of Wonder Woman, this drama focuses on the genesis and political intrigue of an island of all women. End it takes place before Wonder Woman was born, so she won’t be in it.
And it all won’t kick off until 2025, so don’t hold your breath y’all.
