The Mask of Zorro and Air Force One 4K UHD Steelbooks Review
Both these 90s action classics have been on 4K UHD before. This month Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released them in steelbooks which gives me another chance.
The Mask of Zorro is full of bright, sunlit outdoor action in Mexico locations standing in for early California. Flames still glow against the sun drenched quarry.
5.1 sound remains awesome. The Z slashes around you and explosions fill the room. Crowds applaud in large scenes and horses trot around the background of outdoor scenes.
Air Force Once maintains the film grain and the blue tint. The night sky above the clouds is beautiful and dark. The explosion of the refueling plane glows against that sky backdrop.

The interior of the plane is hazy but the visual effects look more solid in 4K. The open cargo hold always looked like blue screen but it’s more consistent now. The crash into the ocean still doesn’t look real.
There’s plenty of action sound for 5.1 from the swooping parachutes to bullets clanking and F15s circling.
Zorro keeps the original art on the steelbook but Air Force One has a nice new ensemble image. Instead of just Harrison Ford’s face, which admittedly sold this in 1997, it depicts the entire cast.
