Plane 4K UHD Review: Frequent 4K Flyer
Plane began the year with a bang and now it comes home on 4K UHD. Since this is a new release, the 4K UHD is perfectly clear. The film itself has several scenarios that exemplify the 4K UHD format.
The plane crash takes place at night and holds up in the dark, as do shots of the plane flying through night clouds. The jungle they land in is bright and sunny with lush greens. It sweats throughout the movie.
Sound is good on Plane too. You’ll hear turbulence surround you and rain in the background. The plane swoops through the room as it descends. The jungle ambiance is there too with bugs in the distance, and some gunshots ricocheting throughout.
There are three solid bonus features, too. One touts Gerard Butler but footage of him taking selfies with his costars conveys his inclusivity more than the soundbites. Costumes give a shorthand to the passengers which is effective for this kind of genre piece.
Finally, a feature on the stunts is nearly 20 minutes long. Butler mentions recent history, meaning the Rust shooting, as a reminder to pay attention to safety. You’ll get to see the plane gimbal at work too.
