‘SUPER MARIO BROTHERS’ HITS BOX-OFFICE BONANZA WITH $204 MILLION

WITH A FIVE DAY, $200+ MILLION DOLLAR OPENING, THE MARO BROTHERS RULE!

As the critical Critics have been mixed on the film, over-thinking things in this case, audiences have been enthusiastic and are having fun. I mean, It earned an “A” CinemaScore, making the film a crowd pleaser! And though Critics on ROTTEN TOMATOES gave the film a piddling 56%, audiences gave it a rousing 96%… YIKES!

David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research, attributes the success to the film’s “broad demographic appeal.” He says, “This is a five-quadrant audience: families, plus younger and older males and females. It’s a marketer’s dream.”

The UNIVERSAL/ILLUMINATION/NINTENDO film racked up a blockbuster $146 million in its opening weekend and powered to $204.6 million in its first five days of release, squashing expectations and steamrolling the competition at the domestic box office. And I myself know people who have already seen it multiple times…
