MARVEL STUDIOS: ‘BLADE’ SHUT DOWN DUE TO THE WRITER’S STRIKE!
WGA STRIKE: And so it begins…Marvel’s vampire hunter Blade just got a wooden stake thru the heart today. Shut down because it needs a Re-write, and can’t get one. The franchise reboot was first announced at Comic-Con in 2019, starring Academy Award Winner Mahershala Ali. And the upcoming, long-in-development reboot was scheduled to start filming this summer, but not now.
Pre-production on Marvel’s vampire superhero movie has been put on hold amid the WGA work stoppage. The studio had recently tapped True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto to re-work the Blade script, which was originally penned by Michael Starrbury, and filming was slated to start next month in Atlanta. But a person familiar with the situation said that time “ran out,” and work on the vampire thriller’s script will resume AFTER the strike.
